“How low can you go?!?” were the words shouted out by our M. C. at a wedding reception while we were doing the limbo. I was disqualified rather early - I just don’t bend. But there were others who could get really low. In the challenge of limbo, the lower you go, the bigger the applause. “How low can you go?”
The Bible tells us that when God came to earth in Jesus, He went as low as one could go. It wasn’t a game. It was a matter of life and death. The mission for our salvation was underway. We see in the book of Philippians, Chapter 2, that the Son of God emptied Himself of the prestige and rights of heaven to become a diaper-wetting baby born in a manger. The Christian writer C. S. Lewis stated that for God to become a man would be like you giving up what you have to become a slug.
Remember that as the angels shouted “Glory to God in the Highest”, Jesus went the lowest to secure the prize - our salvation. This Christmas season, give Him the applause He deserves while you shout “Glory to God in the Lowest.”
